Tim Blunt

Co-College Principal

After completing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and Applied Mathematics at Monash University and a Diploma of Education at Burwood Teachers College, Tim began his teaching career in 1979 at Sunshine Technical School.

In 1992 after the reorganisation of the 6 schools that formed Sunshine College, he became the Year 7 Coordinator at the West Campus previously known as Sunshine West High School, continuing in the position he held at Sunshine Technical School. Tim has spent his entire career serving the Sunshine community and has worked at all the original campuses that were the founding schools of Sunshine College.

Tim was appointed College Principal in 2006 after taking on the acting role during 2004 and 2005.

Tim is the president of Western VASSP (Victorian Association of State Secondary Principals) and is on the VASSP Executive Team, where he has been made a Life Member.

Tim wants to acknowledge that the exceptional work going on at the college which he very proud of, occurs through the work of a great staff and an incredibly professional Leadership Team. He believes strongly that Sunshine College does indeed create futures for its students; whether it be guiding them into Tertiary Education or on a pathway to work or further study and skill development through apprenticeships.

Jodie Parsons

Co-College Principal

With over 20 years of teaching experience, Jodie brings both classroom and leadership expertise to her role as Co-College Principal at Sunshine College. Jodie has recently completed a Master of Applied Behaviour Analysis at Monash University, further strengthening her ability to support diverse learners.

 

She is deeply committed to ensuring every student achieves their personal best and believes this is best realised when families, staff, and the wider community work together in strong partnership.

 

As a proud advocate of Sunshine College, Jodie is dedicated to fostering a culture of growth, inclusion, and shared success.

Dr. Yvonne Reilly

Assistant Principal, Strategy & Accountability

Yvonne has been an Assistant Principal at Sunshine College since 2019. In the eleven years prior to this appointment, Yvonne led the mathematics team at Sunshine College in the development of the innovative Maths Futures program. She became a leading teacher of mathematics in 2013 in recognition of her innovative work, which not only created a turnaround in learning outcomes for students at Sunshine College (Grattan Institute 2014) but that also exemplified a targeted teaching approach (Grattan Institute, 2015) for all students. 

 

The work of the Maths Futures program also led to her team winning two Victorian Education Excellence Awards in 2015, including the prestigious Lindsay Thompson Award. Yvonne has presented the innovative aspects of the program at numerous conferences since 2009 including NZAMT (2011), NCTM in Colorado (2013), the IMA in Glasgow (2015), at ICME in Hungary (2016). She also presented annually at the MAV conference including several Keynote addresses and to parent groups Parents Victoria and ACSSO.


Yvonne has worked since 2009 as a consultant for MAV delivering professional development for teachers and leaders of mathematics in Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland. She won Brimbank Australia Day Educator of the Year in 2015, co-authored the Maths in the Inclusive Classroom (Years 5-8) series of teacher resource books and co-founded the COSINE network of schools in 2020. Yvonne completed a Masters in School Leadership (Numeracy) in 2011 and her doctoral research in mathematics tasks and their effect on student engagement and learning in 2023, from Monash University, won the respected Jeff Northfield Award for Impact on Teacher Education in 2024.
